I was wondering why I always like to watch the ending of a show, why I want to know the end of a story, then today it hit me, the story doesn't matter.
Well that's not totally true it does, but ONLY if the ending means that the main character gets what they want.
Now let me explain, I don't mean that they always have to be the good girl/guy or whatever, no I mean it like this, if you have the plot of a story where a guy needs to get this sandwich before he dies but in the end he doesn't get it in time and dies, the story is pointless, it is not real life he didn't actually change anyone's life for the better, the fact is he DIED. He failed so the sorry is pointless, so really to merit does not matter what the point is as long as at the end they get what they want I can cheer for it being a complete story even if that is the bad person succeeding.
So the story only matters if they succeed.
This can also apply to real life, if you want your story to mean anything don't fail. It does not have to be making it to the moon, if you just want to be a good person till you die then do it and be that. Make your story count by making your own ending that you want, because if you don't there is no point to your story.
